I saw this recently and thought it was a fresh take on the typical "photo wall" that is seen in homes.  I've never seen it on a corner like this.  Pretty cool, no?

Tattoo

I love me a good tattoo. This is one of the more original I've seen yet:

My Back Gate

In our home, we have a great love of all things zombie. My toddlers play zombie with each other. My older two kids terrorize the younger ones playing zombie. We regularly talk about what would happen if there actually WERE zombies. My husband and me are lovers of ALL zombie entertainment; we thumb our noses at nothing zombie related.

So when I found this sign on Etsy, I knew that I had to have it for my home.


It is now proudly hanging from my property's side gate. Freakin' awesome.

Chandelier

My fabulously talented longtime friend and soul sister Lindsey Redfern took this picture of my chandelier last summer and I JUST found it. Our chandelier is an ever changing work of art - nothing is off limits to go on it and everyone who comes into our home comments on how unique it is.

DIY: A New Playhouse Roof

A few weeks ago I ripped off the mangled blue tarp that had been covering our play structure for the past four years and decided that enough was enough. That tarp was an eyesore. It was ripped, ugly, and well past its prime.

I went to Hacock Fabrics and purchased this red and white striped outdoor Sunbrella fabric. I purchased six yards just to be on the safe side. Once I got home I simply measured the length by holding it over the play structure supports and then staple gunned it to the structure.

I didn't hem the sides because they matched up perfectly with the width of the structure.

I know, my methods aren't perfection but the end result sure looks better. I am confident that my neighbors are thanking m.

Guys, this is REALLY easy to do. It cost me $38 (I used a 40% off coupon at the store) and borrowed a friends staple gun (thanks Sarah!). There is no need to spend over $100 on a new tarp that probably won't even LOOK the way you want it to look.

I like looking out my back window now and seeing this circus-feel play structure.

I've been working hard on our kitchen.

First, I stained everything with a grey wash; it looks SO awesome.



Then I replaced all of the drawer pulls with vintage-look pulls. I've always wanted those and now I have them :)



Third I added bun feet to make the cabinets look more custom - it definintely helped.

Now I am in the middle of adding beadboard to all of the outside panels and to wrap the whole kitchen island. It is a multiple step process: cutting the boards to fit, then adhering with Gorilla wood clue and finishing nails, and finally staining the boards.


Final steps include a new kitchen counter (most likely in granite), most likely a new sink (looking at farmhouse/apron sink models), lighting over the island and maybe a tile backsplash (not sure yet).

I just bought these vintage look barstools off of overstock.com.


$67 for BOTH and FREE shipping. Can't wait til they arrive later this week.

Tent

I have a thing for tents. Always have. Even though I'm not much of a camper...Its more the mystique of the tent than actually being in the wilderness. But I digress:

That is a pretty sweet tent.

*I also have this tent related fantasy that is along the lines of Harry Potter, where they go inside a tent and it is WAY more spacious than they expected (like the size of a large house) and is furnished with everything they could possibly need. How AWESOME would that be?!

So I think that I would like to combine each of these pictures into one big beautiful experience! Right?! That would be overload on texture, color and beauty...but it would still make me very happy.
